Are you building a home with a pool? Here’s 4 things to consider when designing your pool.

Project Bayview. Working alongside Studio Snell and One Up Building.

Are you an architect who designs beautiful homes? Do those beautiful homes have pools?

It’s likely you’re designing a brand-new build for a client who’s very emotionally invested in their forever home. The home that they have entrusted you to design. It’s a huge responsibility, one that you’re absolutely up for - a role where you can use your creative flair, your experience and have a bit of fun whilst doing it.

As an architect you’re likely all over the home’s internals. How the rooms interact with each other, the aspect so to capture the light and the breeze in the afternoon. Structurally you understand the engineering that is involved to build it to its necessary strength and so that those floating stairs, don’t collapse.

But are you across the specifics of the pools design? Nowadays pools are becoming a home’s feature. Our incredible desire to design our outdoors as user friendly as our indoors - to design our outdoor Surrounds to bring value to your family all year round. Pools can be enjoyed 365 days a year with the right equipment. They can be covered from the leaves of the surrounding trees, and they can virtually clean themselves. All these design features need to be considered very early on to make construction of your clients home and pool, seamless.

We are all for making your life as easy as possible. Here’s a list of things to consider when designing a pool.

  1. Consider the size of your plant room and if it’s big enough to house all of the pools equipment.

  2. If you’re designing a fancy infinity edge, you need to understand the spillover trough and how much water it can hold.

  3. Waterproofing and how the pools concrete connects to the homes slab.

  4. If in floor cleaning is a priority, consider the plumbing provisions. You need to ensure you have adequate space for all those pipes.

I could go on and on. For us, it’s as much about a pools beauty as it is its buildability. And it’s in these very early design stages where any hurdles can be easily overcome to ensure there aren’t big costs incurred once we commence on site.

We love putting people like you guys, in our corner. If you’re wanting someone you can trust with your clients and your projects - that is definitely us!
