Happy 5th Birthday Cronulla Pools
It’s Cronulla Pools’ 5th birthday today.
Over the years we’ve referred to our business as another one of our babies and without getting too cheesy, I just can’t help but feel like our baby is growing up.
What started as a little project that would see Matt and I working together – something to eliminate my commute to the city, a chance to build something we love ourselves – has turned into something that has become truly central to our lives.
Cronulla Pools is so much a part of us. We live our work – and our work adds so much to our lives.
Cronulla Pools connects us to our people, makes us think better, work better, be better, and continues to fill our cups every day in the excitement we still feel when we meet with another one of our clients who are just pumped for a brand-new pool.
We’re so proud of everything we’ve achieved and so grateful for all the experiences we’ve had.
We’ve won awards nationally, built pools all over Sydney. We’ve made long lasting relationships and friendships, with our trades and suppliers. People who work for us tirelessly – the best people ever.
At Cronulla Pools we’ve built a team. Another family. We’re so proud and lucky to surround ourselves with a bunch of people we’d invite into our own home always, which is why we’re proud to send them into yours, to build your pools.
Tommy. The guy who’s been here since the very beginning. In more ways than one having grown up with Matt. And although he’s recently moved up North he is still committed as ever to Cronulla Pools and helping us to grow across the east coast. He’s kind and laid back, he loves the water and loves to surf. He has a beautiful family and knows how important time spent with the ones you love really is. He is really important to us.
Jess. We met you when we built your pool and we loved it when you applied for a role in our team. You add immeasurable value to the operations of our business and you’re the greatest girl who connects our people in ways we will be forever grateful for.
Scott. When I was walking to our interview, I questioned how well an ex-recruitment-sales-Pom would fit into our relaxed tradie culture. How wrong I was! It was hard for me to let go of that initial contact with our clients but they couldn’t be in better hands. I love how pumped you get by a really genuine chat with people who just want a pool in their life. Couldn’t imagine our team without you.
Tylah. Makes me just a little nervous that you know more about my business than I do! Your thirst for knowledge and your need to close all loops is the best thing ever and for someone who is only 22 (like, she was born when I was watching Coyote Ugly) you’ve got the most incredible skillset that I hope you want to really take places within Cronulla Pools. You’re a chatterbox but we wouldn’t have you any other way.
Matt W. You’re the reason we were able to bring design in-house and have been instrumental in setting up our sister business, Surround. You are fresh and smart and always putting in 100% – we are so glad to have you on our team.
Josh. Who’d have thought that a conversation on the gym floor would lead to us working together! And mate, it’s been the greatest decision for us. Your genuine care for your clients is something I look upon with admiration and although sometimes you can get yourself in a bit of a fizz it’s only because you really care. Keep being the gentle giant that you are.
Scott. If we are all a bunch of Yings then you are our Yang. Just what our team needs! You’re super chilled, incredibly hands-on and just the guy everyone wants to hang around. Our clients are lucky to have you build their pools because of the level of construction experience you have and your pragmatic approach to any challenges that may arise. Our little Kiwi mate. We think you’re awesome.
Ben. Always smiling. So kind and friendly but totally equipped with a wealth of construction knowledge that brings our business so much value. You’re a family man, and although you haven’t been with us for that long you certainly feel part of our family. Thank you for all your hard work.
Connor. I’m sorry that you can often be the brunt of all the boys’ jokes! You take it well mate. You’ve grown up a lot in the time you’ve worked for us and Matt always speaks of your work ethic and how proud he is of you putting in anything that needs to be done to get the job finished. You’re a legend.
Alec. You’ve shown huge initiative this year to continue to learn and do your job the best you can and we love that. You’re always smiling, always so friendly and you always represent Cronulla Pools perfectly. Thank you mate.
And then there’s my mate, Matt. I’m often asked what it’s like to work with my husband. The thing is, we are so different. He’s a practical thinker, super intelligent and pretty impressive on the tools, too. I’m all the feels, arguably too much of the feels sometimes, creative, probably not as smart but maybe a little better with people. Soft skills are my jam. But in our differences, we find common ground and we continue to learn from each other, sometimes not delivering constructive criticism as constructively as we should but always working it out in the end. We seem to complement each other and we are always blown away at how we met at uni studying business, went away and did our own things before finding our feet together within Cronulla Pools. It’s been the most rewarding ride and I’m grateful to have done it with you.
The future of Cronulla Pools is so exciting. Especially for those of you in the market for a beautiful pool. And after all these years, we are still just as passionate about and focussed on what we’ve known to be true since day one: a pool makes your life better. And we know we’re the best people to make your life better with a pool.
You know, Cronulla Pools gets more and more itself with each and every year.
I’m always amazed at how you can build something, and then it can develop its little life of its own.
This is what makes Cronulla Pools so special to us – it has really become this company that is so much a part of each and every adventure we’ve had, each and every person we’ve connected with, every up and down, every uncertainty, every mistake, every new start.
I love what I do, and if you know Cronulla Pools you know this. But when I think over the last five years I think about how lucky we’ve been, how hard we’ve worked to make it work, how much we’ve become more ourselves, how much we’ve changed, how much more we’ve got to do.
All these things live together, and I reckon it’s so important to just, stop. To feel, to celebrate. To just live it.
I really can’t wait for the next five years.
They are going to be so great, and we’d love to spend some time with you.
