Pool Building Process
We’ve streamlined the pool design and build process — every step, made easier.
Our process
A pool might look the same no matter who builds it - it’s a big concrete hole filled with water, right? But what makes the biggest difference is how it’s built and how you’re treated along the way.
Over the years we’ve fine-tuned what we call The Cronulla Pools Way - a process that balances good people with good systems.
Clear communication.
Reliable trades.
Fair progress payments.
Transparent quotes (no sneaky extras).
We’ve built the back-end as carefully as we build your pool. When the process works, it means your pool is delivered on time, on budget, and with zero stress.
And yes - it’s messy. There’ll be dirt, noise, and moments you can’t use your yard. But we’ll guide you through every step, from that first “let’s do this” to the first cannonball.
The Cronulla Pools Experience

There’s the pool you can see — and the part you can’t. That’s where we build trust, connection and care into every project.
Frequently asked questions.
-
We get it — it’s the question everyone wants answered first.
The cost of a concrete pool can vary depending on your block, access, design features and finishes. As a guide, most of our pools start from around $100,000, with larger or more detailed designs sitting higher. At Cronulla Pools, we’re big on transparency — no hidden extras, no surprises. If we can’t quote for it, we’ll budget for it. That’s part of our Open Book Promise.
-
From first chat to first swim, you’re generally looking at four to six months.
Design and approvals usually take 6–12 weeks, and construction another 10–15 weeks depending on weather, access and complexity. We’ll give you a clear timeline at the start — and keep you updated the whole way through — so you always know what’s happening and when
-
Everything you need to bring your pool to life — design, engineering, approvals, construction, plumbing, equipment, finishes and handover.
We break down your quote clearly, so you can see exactly where your money’s going. And if there’s something not included (say, heating or landscaping), we’ll flag it early. Because clarity builds trust, and trust is what we’re all about.
-
Yes — every new pool in NSW needs approval. The good news? We take care of it all for you.
We’ll let you know early whether your design qualifies for a Complying Development Certificate (CDC) or needs a Development Application (DA) through council. Our team manages every detail — engineering, certification, site plans and submissions — so you don’t have to worry about the paperwork.
-
All NSW pools must comply with the Swimming Pools Act and Australian Standard (AS1926). That means:
A compliant fence and gate that meet safety standards
Pool registration with the NSW Swimming Pool Register
CPR signage displayed nearby
Restricted access from windows and doors leading to the pool area
We design and build with all of this in mind from day one, so your pool isn’t just beautiful — it’s safe, compliant and ready for certification.
-
In our (well-informed) opinion — yes.
Concrete gives you complete design freedom — you choose the shape, depth, features and finishes. It’s also incredibly durable and can be tailored to your home’s architecture.Fibreglass pools come pre-moulded, which limits your options. Concrete, on the other hand, is fully custom — and built to last for generations of cannonballs.
-
Access, slope and rock are the three big factors.
Tight access may require smaller machinery, while sloped or rocky sites might need extra engineering or retaining. The good news? We’ve built on every kind of block imaginable — and we’ll give you clear advice upfront so you know what to expect. The goal is always the same: to design something beautiful, functional and achievable for your space.
-
Absolutely — that’s the beauty of concrete.
We can customise everything: shape, depth, steps, benches, ledges, spas, water features, tiles and interiors. The only limits are engineering and compliance, and we’ll help you navigate those early on.We love working closely with our clients to create something that feels uniquely theirs.
-
Concrete pools are surprisingly easy to look after. You’ll need to clean, balance water chemistry and service your equipment regularly, but most systems are automated these days.
Running costs depend on pool size, equipment and usage. We’ll talk you through energy-efficient pumps, heating and covers to help keep costs down and your water crystal clear.
-
With proper care, a concrete pool can last for decades — often 40+ years.
The structure itself is built to endure, and most clients only refresh their interiors or finishes every 15–20 years. It’s not just an investment in your home — it’s an investment in your lifestyle. Built properly, it’s a pool that’s here to stay (and play).
