Here’s MKC Excavation’s top 3 tips to understanding your pools excavation

A lot of work goes into building your pool, especially in the early stages. Before we even start on-site, we get to know you and understand why you’re after a pool. We review everything you want, walk you through the design phase, and make sure it’s as functional and beautiful as you’ve been dreaming of. By the time we’re ready to start, there’s not much left to surprise us—we’re all over it.

Excavation is a key step, and there are plenty of factors to ensure it's done efficiently and cost-effectively. Let’s meet Marlo from MKC Excavations—a top-notch guy who's been with us for years and is exactly who you want digging your pool! He’s also donating his time to dig the pool for our "Wanna Win a Pool" competition. Round of applause for Marlo!

Now, here are three things you should know about excavation:

Access

Finding the best way to get our machines into your backyard is crucial. We’ve got machines of all sizes, but the width and height of your access will determine how large a machine we can use. Typically, the bigger the digger, the faster the dig. But we’re realists, and in today’s housing world we aren’t typically working with much more than 1m.

Ground Conditions: Rock, Sand, or Water?

What we’re digging into matters. If there’s rock underground, we’ll need extra time and resources to remove it. We’ll discuss any potential extra costs with you upfront. If your site is sandy, we’ll stabilize the hole by back-forming it with repurposed roof sheets. And if the water table is high, we’ll need to pump out the excess water.

Demolition

It’s important to understand what’s included in the cost of your excavation. We’ll cover digging and removing the soil from your pool, but if you have things like retaining walls, old pavers, or trees that need to go, be sure to let us know. We’ll factor that into the price before we get started.

Excavation is an exciting phase guys —it marks the start of many great poolside memories! Thank you to MKC. We can’t wait to dig your pool!
