Design Wins - Mark Williams on his top 3 picks for a really awesome concrete pool

For someone who never thought a pool was an option, Mark Williams and his partner, Sam, knew exactly what they wanted to create the pool of their dreams.

“We came up with a lot of changes on the go,” Mark says. “We built during co-vid, and there were all the challenges that came with that. But you look at the product, and it doesn’t matter in the end. It’s unbelievable.”

So what makes Mark and Sam’s pool so damn fancy?

Check out Mark’s top design picks. Get excited. Be inspired. Dive in. Go on!

 1.      Burnished Concrete

Mark says: “It’s pretty special. It’s just all white, no tiles, nothing. When you look at it – it’s just beautiful.”

CP says: Yes, yes and yes – burnished concrete embodies the best in contemporary pool design. This is a polished concrete finish with no aggregate exposed. Burnished concrete is super durable, smooth without being slippery, and has a white through it to give that real Byron vibe and there are no joins like you get when using a tile. It’s so pared back, so slick, and so freaking stylish it pretty much speaks for itself.

 2.      Limed Oak Millboard

Mark says: “We wanted the coolest option for the deck, so we actually left a sample out in the sun with another sample, and this was the most heat resistant by far. It’s a pale, washed look that looks great in the outdoor space.”

CP says: Limed Oak is part of Millboard's ‘Enhanced Grain’ collection – it’s sun-bleached and so it looks like authentic wood. It’s made from real prime grain timber,  and creates a calm, consistent feel which brings the surrounds together beautifully.  But the best part, it won’t rot and it doesn’t need any oiling, sanding or treating to keep it looking amazing all the time. Low maintenance? 100%.

 3.      Theralux water

Mark says: “Theralux – it’s the best. The magnesium in it makes for such a good swim.”

CP says: Made from 100% Essential Earth Minerals, Theralux water has heaps less chlorine and chemicals than other brands, and creates a totally rejuvenating swim experience. It’s also good for sensitive skin, and won’t turn the hair green. Plus, it creates sparkling clean water that looks, tastes, and feel great.

 Thanks, Mark!
