CEO Dare to Cure Extreme Fitness Challenge
What started out as an invitation to join a few friends in a fitness challenge, turned into something bigger and better than we ever thought possible.
We’ll be forever proud of our Wanna Win a Pool competition, and the small role we played in raising money for such an important cause.
On November 23rd, at the Fleet Steps in the beautiful Botanic Gardens, we participated in the CEO Dare to Cure.
Run by the incredible team at the Children’s Cancer Institute, this fundraiser is all about business owners and CEO’s putting themselves out of their comfort zone to raise money for childhood cancer. Matt I and I are pretty competitive so this suited us perfectly!
Dare’s ranged from ice baths to walking on glass. From virtual reality cliff jumping to extreme fitness challenges. Max cals on the assault bike coupled with body weight exercises to score points and hopefully, to win! Some of it was grueling, some of it was fun, and all of it was totally worth it.
As a team, alongside our mates Geoff and Lauren from Bowerbird Interiors and Craig and Neri Alexander, we competed and loved every single second. Have to say, we totally nailed the assault bike. And pretty pumped to have finished second overall (second comes right after first, right?).
The event, for us, has been a wonderful introduction to the team at the Children’s Cancer Institute.
It put us in touch with a bunch of incredibly passionate people who work tirelessly each day to reduce the number of kids dying from cancer each year.
And it was the reason behind our Wanna Win a pool competition.
Every cent from our ticket sales went straight to the CCI and upon completion of the event on Tuesday we were sitting proud at number 3 on the fundraising ladder with over $104,000 raised.
To say we were changed by this competition is an understatement. At this end of it, we’re more convinced than ever that giving back is good for everyone. If your business is thriving and you find yourself in the position to be able to do so, we know it’s the way to go. And the CCI is just a wonderful charity to support. Besides making you feel all the warm and fuzzies, giving back means you’ll be doing a great thing in getting the number of kids cancer down to zero.
Because, as the amazing people at the Children’s Cancer Institute say - it’s not if, it’s when.
