A step by step guide to the pool of your dreams.

When you finish reading this article, you’re going to be all over the process of building your brand-new pool.

I love my job and by far one of the very best bits is sharing in the excitement that dreaming about, planning for, building, and owning a pool brings. I love hearing about your family and how hard you’ve worked getting your other half over the line for this next big adventure. I love listening to your ideas and getting a sense of your particular style, and most importantly I love seeing your beautiful dreams come to life.

Part of my role in our team is to make the pool building process easy for you to understand – to share information about the ins and outs so that you go in with your eyes wide open and a full understanding of what you're in for. Because not knowing what’s coming next can be stressful and we’re here to make the build as enjoyable as possible.

So … want a complete beginners guide to building a pool? Here it is!

Stage 1 – Quote

You’ve likely found us hanging around on Instagram or maybe someone you know has recommended us (legend). In any case, the first thing to do is to get in touch with us so we can sort out your quote. When you do, you’ll have a chat to Scott, our Sales Manager – you’ll tell him every single thing you’re thinking you want for your dream pool. You’ll discuss things like location of the pool, size, how you want the interiors to be finished, and any landscaping you want done. Scott will advise you on the finer details such as the kind of access we’ll require, zoning laws, and any potential roadblocks.

This is the part where we collect all the information we require to give you a crystal clear idea of the price of your pool, but this first date is about much more than talking shop. We wanna know every teeny tiny little detail about what you want in a pool and what it means to you.

It’s in all these ‘feels’ that the true magic lies and it’s the reason why so many of our past clients so kindly sing are praises.

Stage 2 – Design and Approvals

An onsite meeting with our landscape architect will kick this part of the process off. This is where you get to totally debrief – tell us everything about the millions of dreams and aspirations you have for your space! We’ll listen and scroll through thousands of Pinterest pics with you until we can get a perfect picture of what you want – then we’ll design it.

Once you fall in love with our creation we’ll pop it into a compliant and functional little package for you. With your design all set we need to check a few more boxes to get your pool approved, and depending on the method this can take anywhere between 1-6 months. Then we’ll have your structural engineering plans finalised, and we’ll also obtain insurances and building plan approval from Sydney Water before lodging the application with council.

As soon as we get the tick of approval it’s game on!

Stage 3 – Project kick-off

This an important part of the process for us.

We love complete and utter transparency and the project kick off meeting is where we lay all our cards out on the table. Here you’ll come into our office and you’ll meet your Project Manager and our Project Coordinator. You’ll go through the contract in detail now that your design is finalised and the contract is inclusive of anything additional you chose to add.

We’ll set your projects schedule so you know exactly when we’ll be there. We’ll take you through the build process step by step, at each stage outlining any important decisions you need to make and finally we’ll show you around our Project Management Tool, Buildertrend. This smart little program will be like a diary of all things pool build for you.

It’ll keep you abreast of everything that happens on site, it’ll let you know when your payments fall due and it’ll just provide you with that added sense of ‘we’re here for you’ every step of the way. Because, we are.

Stage 4 - Build

This is the part where you get to sit back and watch us do what we do best.

The build begins with us on site as we precisely mark out where we are going to build your pool. By this stage, we’ll know your plans like the back of our hand and we start on site by marking out the location and level of your pool. Next up is excavation, followed by formwork and steel fixing. The pipes are then run for your filtration equipment before the concrete is sprayed. Once the shell is complete, your brand spanking new pool needs 3 weeks to cure to achieve its maximum strength. Then we’ll be back to give it a good acid wash, cleaning the pool before we begin with the finishing touches: tiling, installation of your equipment, and fencing all needs to be completed before we start the interiors of your pool and put water in it. Once the hose goes in you’re so close to jumping in!

Stage 5 – Handover

Lucky you picked us because when we build your pool we throw in a 4-week handover with a qualified pool service technician to get you totally up to speed on your new pool. The technician will be there to clean your pool, make sure your equipment is functioning the way it should and to give you all the necessary information to send you on your merry way.

And hey, look at you now you fancy face pool owner! You made an excellent choice in picking us, you actually found yourself loving the construction stage, you’ve learnt all there is to know about the operations of your pool and now you’ve arrived!

A real life pool owner with countless dips and good times ahead of you. We’re so excited for you and all those you hold nearest and dearest – including the neighbours’ kids and Barry from up the street and your 16 year old son’s friends who never want to leave – everyone loves a pool, remember! And you know what?

We really can’t wait to build yours for you.
