Project Minnamurra - A pool to transform the trickiest of spaces

I’ve known Paul and Susan’s family for a long time as our dads worked together for years and years. So when Susan got in touch with plans for a pool for her five sons, we were very keen to see what we could create in their backyard – which was quite a tricky little space!

‘This pool is awesome,’ Paul says. ‘It is just this incredibly beautiful feature that flows out seamlessly from our home and is also practical for use all year round.’

We first caught up with Paul and Susan at their home in the leafy suburb of Northbridge. They told us they were desperate for a pool, but didn’t know if it was even possible to build one in their backyard which, as well as being confined, was really rocky and very difficult to access.

‘Our backyard was a bit of a mess, to be honest,’ Paul says. ‘But we always felt there was a lot of potential there. Cronulla Pools was the perfect fit for us. We knew we could trust you guys to deliver something amazing, even though we had our fair share of challenges to face.’

To see if we could help them make the project work, we referred Paul and Susan to Andrew from Stone Lotus Landscapes. We regularly partner with Andrew, who is an absolute genius at working design magic even against the odds. Not surprisingly, Andrew nailed the design work, excavated a stack of rock for us and complimented the pool with his landscaping.

‘It was just an absolute pleasure to work with people who are so passionate about what they do and who can also deliver. This beautiful little pool is our dream come true and the experience of working with Cronulla Pools was too easy’ Susan said.

We are so proud of the final product on Minnamurra Road – at only 3m x 3m it’s small but super impactful. This pool has a beautiful curved edge and is flanked by a fully-functional garden bed and putting green. It’s walled by chunks of exquisite sandstone by Eco Outdoor, and features a striking custom built steel fence which gives such a polished finish to the whole look. Fully tiled in Bali Zen tiles Paul and Susan’s pool is also decked out with a gas heater so that the plunge pool can be used any time of year – making it as user-friendly as it is stunning to look at.

‘This pool has completed our home,’ Paul says. ‘It’s made a huge difference to us, and transformed the space both in terms of aesthetics and functionality – we just have the sense now that with this pool in place we can totally relax and unwind at home.
